Ms. Janice Lapsley was born on January 14, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Harold and Katie
Lapsley. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers (Frank Lapsley, Ronnie
Lapsley), husband (Lewis E Brewster), favorite nephews (Shroy Lapsley, Joey Towns),
grandson (Christian D West "Boots"), and many other friends and close friends.
Janice attended WW Yates Grammar School and Emmanuel High School in Kansas City,
Missouri. She worked as a waitress at Nieces restaurant, Three Friends, and Denny's, working
hard to raise not only her children but also her grandchildren.
Ms. Janice was a very loving mother, sister, grandma, and friend. Her door was always open for
everyone, but she expected a greeting when you walked in. She loved her church and God,
making sure to attend church every Sunday when her health allowed, and taking her grandkids
with her. Ms. Janice helped raise 4 generations of kids and will be greatly missed by each and
every one of them.
She was a true fighter, fun-loving, and enjoyed family dinners and BBQs on the weekends.
Being surrounded by family, despite any drama, truly made her happy. Even with her health
problems, she faced the challenge head-on, showing true strength until the end. Ms. Janice
passed away on September 12th at Research Medical Center, surrounded by family and love.
Her passing has left us devastated, but she taught us about God, and we believe we will see
her again.
Ms. Janice is survived by her 3 children Jammel, Joe, and Katisha Lapsley, 2 brothers Kenny
and Edward Lapsley, 2 sisters Joann and Shelia Lapsley, favorite niece Shakina Lapsley, and
many more nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind 21 grandchildren, many great-
grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren who will all miss her dearly.
