In Loving Memory of Janice
Janice was a truly remarkable and special woman. I hold so many cherished memories of growing up with Vanessa and spending time with Janice. She was always kind, compassionate, and fiercely supportive-always going to bat for me whenever I needed it.
Her creativity and artistic spirit were inspiring. I will never forget how she created beautiful floral mats for the foyer using pages from flower catalogues, bordered with stripes from Henri Bendel bags I brought her at her request. She had such an eye for beauty and originality.
Janice´s laugh and smile could light up an entire room. I always loved entertaining her after school while Vanessa and I worked on homework-she had a way of making everything feel joyful and special, even in the simplest of moments.
Janice had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel loved and included. She always made me feel like part of the family-accepted just as I was, even during my more challenging middle school and teenage years. To this day, whenever I have Seagram´s creamed spinach, I think of her. And as a teacher, whenever I have a bilingual student, I play Lyric Language songs-just as she did with Vanessa and me to help us learn Spanish. "Vamos a ver los animales... let´s go see the animals." I can still remember every lyric.
Though time and distance caused us to lose touch, my childhood memories with the Maranov family and with Janice will forever hold a special place in my heart. This loss is heartbreaking beyond words. But knowing how deeply Janice loved her family, I am certain she will never truly leave your side. She will continue to be John and Vanessa´s guardian angel-watching over you with the same love, warmth, and grace that she shared throughout her life.
With love and deepest sympathy,
Megan B. Hanley
