Janice Ann Mathison (Schuette), age 82, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, at the Hendricks Nursing Home, Hendricks, MN. Funeral service will be 2 pm Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Faith Lutheran Brethren Church in Hendricks, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Hendricks City Cemetery, Hendricks, MN. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Hendricks, MN is entrusted with the arrangements.
Janice Ann Mathison was born on March 29th, 1943 in Hendricks, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Paul & Annie (Miller) Schuette. Janice graduated from Hendricks High School in 1961.
On July 16, 1965, she was united in marriage to Arnold Mathison, a union that would last 60 years. Together, they raised four beautiful daughters. Janice worked at Larson's Food Center and later at the Hendricks Community Hospital in the housekeeping department, where she was known for her dedication and quiet kindness.
She found joy in the simple, creative pleasures of life. Janice had a special love for embroidering dish towels, treasured by many who received them, and crocheting dishcloths to keep her hands busy. During the winter months, she enjoyed spending quiet time putting together jigsaw puzzles. Growing up on a farm gave her a lifelong love for animals, especially horses. More than anything, Janice truly cherished her family. She was happiest when everyone was together and took great pride in being a grandmother. Janice will be remembered for her gentle heart, creativity, and unwavering love for her family.
She is survived by her four children: Sheila Mathison, Sioux Falls, SD, Sherri Hartman (John) Brookings, SD, Judy Rybinski, Hendricks, MN and Amy (Charlie) Anderson, Porter, MN; grandchildren: Tyler, Alyssa (Tanner), Megan, Ryan, Zachary (Krystyna), and Tina; great-grandchildren: Brayden, Maysyn, Serenity, Ariyel, Blayze and Cecelia; and one brother-in-law, Jerry Mathison.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Mathison; parents Paul & Annie Schuette; mother and father-in-law: Adolph & Bernice Mathison; brothers: James & Marlin Schuette; sister Evenell Schuette; and sisters-in- law: Janice K Mathison and Karen Schuette.
