Janice C. "Jan" May, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed peacefully on May 3, 2022, with family by her side, at the age of 86. She will be missed more than words can express. She is survived by one son, four daughters, and one son-in-law: Rick Warner-May, Cindi Micheau, Sandy Last, Vicki (Dan) Delaruelle, and Susan May. She is also survived by two sisters, one brother-in-law, and two sisters-in-law: Jean (Jack) Bates, Jackie LaBrosse, Marie Stavenow/LaMay and Jeannie Frisque/LaMay. Also grieving her passing are her 10 grandchildren: Sam (Rick); Joshua (Laura), Charliegh, and Jonathan (Sandy); Amara and Kimberly (Vicki and Dan); Samantha (Brian), Kassandra (Josh), Luke and Elena (Susan); as well as 4 great grandchildren: Evelyn and William (Samantha & Brian); and Emma and Jacob (Joshua & Laura).

Jan gave so much love and so many beautiful smiles to those who were blessed to know her. She loved gardening and animals, and would sit for hours in her beautiful backyard gardens, with a cup of black coffee, and sing familiar whistles and songs to the songbirds and owls who also discovered this serene sanctuary -- with its giant evergreen and maple trees. She loved her family with a passion. Her days were often spent talking on the phone, or visiting at her place, with each of her 5 adult children or neighbors/friends about whatever they wanted to share with her.

Jan grew up in Green Bay, and babysat in her young teen years. She and her older brother Reggie (of Reggie's Rods and Reels) danced at Shirley Van's Dance Studio for a time. She married Richard (Dick) May and raised 5 kids who all adored her. She was a wonderfully loving and nurturing mother. They spent many holidays and family gatherings at Red Banks Supper Club on the east shore of Green Bay, which her parents owned and lived at for many years. During middle age, she worked as a waitress at the Lorelei Inn for approximately 14 years. Jan also helped her friend Dee, who owned Party Perfect (west), by working there when Dee needed her.

Jan loved each of her children and grandchildren with a kind heart. She didn't have a judgmental bone in her body, and always encouraged each of her kids/grandkids in their successes, hopes, dreams, trials, triumphs, and even in their failures. She was always our soft place to fall. Her family will be forever grateful to her for passing down her interests, talents, and passions. Jan's loves were: cooking, pets (who were of course considered family members), growing plants, entertaining family and friends, watching scary shows/movies, doing crafts, flower-arranging, writing, gift-giving, and decorating for Christmas – just to name a few. Mom (Grandma) was gifted with the ability to play the piano by ear. We loved listening to her play. Without any sheet music, she knew exactly where to place her fingers and how to play many fun beautiful songs…and even self-composed arrangements.

Jan was also a devoted and selfless daughter, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her infant son David; as well as her mother and father, Ione and Corwin LaMay, who passed in 1988 and 1996, respectively, as well as her first husband, Richard (Dick) May in 2017. She was also preceded in death by her 3 brothers: Aubrey, Gary, and Reggie LaMay; a sister-in-law: Elaine (Reggie) LaMay; and one brother-in-law: Jim (Jackie) LaBrosse. Jan was also preceded in death by her two dear friends: Dee Pasterski and Audrey Hermeling, as well as the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Conley.

To honor Jan's wishes, her family is holding a very small gathering in celebration of her life. Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma will be missed more than words can say. We all hope and pray she is experiencing full joy and peace now.
