Janice Murphy of New Seabury MA, Beverly Hills, CA and Cambridge, MA, passed away on April 1, 2025 from a long and troubling illness. She is survived by her sister, Barbara of Cambridge and dog Emmy. She is predeceased by her parents Robert and Agnes (Hegarty) Murphy of Cambridge and her beloved dog, Muffin.
Janice had a remarkable career in the New York Stock Exchange. She started as a secretary, then became a Stock Trading Broker after passing all of the series 7 tests. Janice then became an Institutional Sales Person in the stock market. She went from working in Boston to New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Janice was well liked and respected in her career. Honest, trust worthy, outgoing and personable. She opened one of the top financial firms offices in Los Angeles all on her own.
Janice did not like to fly after a frightening plane drop experience. In her line of work, she had to commute from Boston to New York, Los Angeles to San Francisco. As hard as it was, she got herself on the planes and got the job done.
Janice enjoyed playing golf. She was a member of Birnam Wood Golf Club of Montecito, CA and enjoyed the company of her longtime friend Dr. Marshall Grode. Janice was a big fan of the patriots and Celtics and enjoyed watching the games on television. She named one of her rescue dogs Rondo after Celtics player Rajon Rondo.
She took pleasure in dining out with friends in Beverly Hills, Santa Barbara and Boston restaurants. Janice loved to go to Wilson Farms, especially in the fall for hot cider donuts. Janice treasured her dog Muffin. They took walks on the beach in Santa Barbara and New Seabury. Janice like to travel explore even though it would be plane rides.
Janice will be missed by her sister, friends and colleagues. She is finally at Peace.
A graveside service and burial will be held on Friday, April 4th at 11:30 am at Historic Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. Please meet at the front gate of the cemetery by 11:15 am. Arrangements are under the care of DeVito Funeral Home. Please visit devitofuneralhome.com to view an online guestbook. Janice was a dear friend. Marsha and I traveled with her to Europe, played golf in Santa Barbara and walked with Muffin. I gave her this portrait that I painted.
Sadly we lost Janice and communicating with her waa not possible. A wonderful lady
