My mother always took care of us and made every holiday magical for us. She would work all day as a teacher and come home and cook a full meal for the family. She did it every night for years and years and they were good meals too. I am amazed by her when I realize how hard she worked and how much she gave for so many years. She was always willing to reach out and take time and effort to communicate with others. We miss her and think about her often and appreciate the heroic feats she accomplished as a mother and a grandmother and a wife and a teacher for so many dedicated years.

As I was cleaning my voicemail I came across a voicemail Mrs. Norell left me on 07/31/2020. After a quick Facebook look up I realized that she had passed away earlier this year. That was the last time we spoke. When I graduated she gave me her personal email address and that is how we kept in touch for sometime, that later tuned into a couple of phone call conversations and meeting up for lunch. She made such a huge impact in my life. I was part of her last class before she retired. If I am not mistaken she had been the teacher that had taught the longest at MHS. I have very fond memories of junior year English class. You will be greatly missed Mrs. Norrell.

Stevie, Debbie Lynn, and I were just little kids when our second oldest cousin, Dr. Jerry Norrell fell in love and married Janice. We as kids fell in love with Janice and she was always like a BIG sister to us. She became part of our family 58 years ago and we love her and her beautiful grown children, Griffin, Melissa, Rhonda, and Justin very much. Janice had such a BIG HEART and was a wonderful Christian lady. As much as I miss my monthly contact with Janice I praise the LORD that she is now in heaven reunited with our Dr. Jerry, her parents, and our Aunt Nellie and Uncle Charles. Aunt Nellie and Uncle Charles were our second set of parents. Uncle Charles loved Debbie Lynn and me as his real daughters and Stevie as his younger son. We were so close as children to our Aunt Nellie, Uncle Charles, Dr. Jerry, and Janice. We grew up and remained close to Jerry and Janice although we moved to the Netherlands as missionaries almost 33 years ago. Janice even sent clothes and shoes to our oldest granddaughter in Michigan that Sloane had outgrown. Janice was a wonderful giving, loving, and enjoyable cousin or BIG SISTER. We have a word in Dutch for BIG SISTER and my friends here in Holland have given me their sympathies for my BiG SISTER. Please know Griffin, Wendy, Eleanor, Elliott, Melissa, Brandon, Brittany, Brooke, Brett, Blake, Rhonda, Marissa, Sloane, and Justin we love you all very much and we pray daily for each of you to grow closer to our LORD Jesus Christ. We will be with you in thought and prayer tomorrow during Janice's funeral. Much love and as we say in Dutch: Gods zegen (Bless) Aunt Sandr and Uncle Richard

Janice and I were 5 days apart in age and was my first best friend. We literally grew up together at Pecan Heights Baptist Church.
We remained in contact with each other our whole life.
We texted on our birthdays a few weeks ago and we’re planning on getting together this summer.
Shen sent me this picture of us on her birthday many years ago.
We would sometimes spend Sunday afternoons at Baylor while her mom was on duty. Joe taught us both how to drive in the pasture next to their house. We spent weekends at their farm in East Texas and always had fun together.
I am so sadden my her death. I will dearly miss my first best friend.
