Janice Kay Pastien, age 79, of Willmar, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 28, at her place of residence.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. followed by her celebration of life service at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 20, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Interment will be at the Lake Elizabeth Baptist Cemetery. www.petersonbrothers.com

Janice was born on September 28, 1946, in Litchfield, Minnesota, the daughter of Hilder and Harriet (Peterson) Nordin. She grew up on a farm near Lake Lillian and received her education in the Atwater schools. In 1972, Janice was married to Ronald Allen Pastien. They lived in several communities before settling to Cold Spring. They were divorced in 1988 but remained good friends until his death in 1992. Janice loved being with her family and especially enjoyed the summer cookouts together. She also enjoyed shopping and time spent with her dearest friend, John.

She is survived by her special friend, John Tostenson of Willmar; her three children, Brenda Mahn of Willmar, Larry Bloemke of Willmar and Scott Pastien of Litchfield; seven grandchildren, Tim, Troy, Tad, Daniel, Jessica, Justin and Tyler; and one great grandson, Jaxson. Also surviving are three siblings, Judy Morris of Renville, Joyce (and Terry) Brower of Willmar and Al (Marilyn) Nordin of Atwater; several nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her former husband, Ronald.
