Janice Starr Obituary

**Janice Lee Riel Starr (1952-2025)**
Janice Lee Riel Starr, 74, born in Missoula, Montana, passed away in Surprise, Arizona, on November 11, 2025.
Janice was born in Missoula, Montana, on the summer solstice of June 21, 1952, to William and Ida Mae Riel. Growing up in Missoula and Alberton Montana, Janice spent summers as a kid with her brother Johnny, and her three sisters Kathy, Joanie and Linda at their small rustic cabin up Fish Creek. Adventure was around every corner. The stories she told were amazing. As a young woman she gave birth to two beautiful daughters, Chrisann and Jennifer. In her early 30's she met the love of her life, Bill Starr, who also has a son, KC. They built a strong, lasting, beautiful 40 year marriage together with three children that most people would envy. She loved to go to garage sales and loved collecting beautiful glass bowls and vases that kept her husband "Starr", shaking his head. Janice had a wonderful 20 plus year career with the Missoula County Sheriff's Department until she retired. Janice and Bill then moved to Surprise, Arizona to start this new chapter of their life. A warmer environment where they could enjoy a slower pace and could be close to her daughter, Jennifer, and one of their 5 grandchildren, Mykenzie.
Janice is survived by her loving husband Bill Starr, with whom she happily shared 40 years of her life. She is also survived by:
Her sisters Kathy, Linda and Joanie; Her daughter, Jennifer Mosley (her husband Larry) and their daughter, Mckenzie; Her daughter, Chrisann Durham (her husband Malachi) and their children Misty and Paetyn along with great-grandchildren Damion and La'Rell; Her stepson, Keith "K.C." Starr (his wife Mary) and their children - Martin (his wife Emilie), Jonah (his wife Brittney Hutchinson), Brandon and Mary, along with great-grandchildren, Andrew and Temperance Hutchinson.
For Starr, my children, and grandkids:
"As I sit in heaven and watch you every day, I try to let you know with signs that I never went away.
I hear you when you're laughing and watch you as you sleep; I even place my arms around you to calm you when you weep.
I see you wish the days away, begging to have me home. So, I try to send you signs so you know you are not alone.
Don't feel guilty; they have a life that was denied to me. Heaven is truly beautiful, just you wait and see.
So, live your life, laugh again, enjoy yourself, be free. Then I know with every breath you take, you'll be taking one for me."
