Janice Theresa Strauch was born in Detroit on August 30, 1930 to William and Jeannette Balicki. Janice passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Corewell Health in Trenton at the age of 95.
Janice's 95 years were full. She grew up in Detroit with her sister and brother graduating from Cass Tech. High School. After graduation Janice entered the work force first helping others working as a dietician at Harper Hospital in Detroit. Janice took a break from working when her daughters were born but returned to the workforce as they grew up taking a sales position selling clothing. In her career Janice helped thousands of people get just the right outfit working first for Winkelman's and then Jacobson's. When she wasn't working Janice found great joy between the cover of a book. She was very well read often starting one book before she was even done with another. She also loved to do ceramics and crafting. Among her other loves Janice loved cooking. She would often make meals for family and friends and her love showed through in the dishes that she would create in her kitchen. She and her beloved husband John also loved the Detroit Tigers and their farm team the Toledo Mudhens. She and John had a brick dedicated to them laid during the construction of Comerica Park back in 2000. Janice and John also loved their vacations spent in Port Hope, Michigan relaxing while looking out on Lake Huron. However, Port Hope wasn't all about relaxing either and Janice and John would be out on the big water in their little 17 foot fishing boat looking to break their last record for number of fish caught. Among all else though, Janice loved her family, her daughter's, her grandchildren and great grandchildren were always a point of love and pride for Janice and her presence will be missed by all who knew her.
She is the beloved wife of 72 years of the late John. Loving mother of Denise (Charles) Samu and Lori (Raymond) Domsic. Very proud grandma of Lauren (Richard) Claeys and Jeffrey (Cydney) Domsic and great grandmother of Ryan, Madelynn, and Esther. Dearest sister of the late Dolores (the late Leonard) Kay and the late William Balicki. Beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Visitation Friday 2-8 PM with a 7 PM Rosary at the Wasik Funeral Home, Inc 49150 Schoenherr Rd. (n. of 22 Mile Road), Shelby Twp. Instate Saturday 11:30 AM until Noon Funeral Mass at St. Isidore Catholic Church 18201 23 Mile Road (corner of Romeo Plank), Macomb Township. Immediately following Mass Janice will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
