Janice L. Swartzbaugh, 94, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025. She was born November 30, 1930 to the late Isaiah and Freda (Schultz) Lupp. She was predeceased by her loving husband, George Swartzbaugh, since April of 1989.
She was a graduate of Biglerville High School, class of 1948. She then went on to continue her education at Lock Haven State Teachers College and graduated in 1953. She was a high school teacher and then went on to teach preschool at Happiness St. and Bright Beginnings in Palmyra for many years. More than anything she enjoyed her grandchildren and attending their different sporting events.
She is survived by her children, Penelope “Penny” Downey and husband George, Eric Swartzbaugh and wife Sally; grandchildren, George Downey, IV and wife Lauren, Kyle and Evan Downey, Casaundra Jewel and husband Kevin, Abigail Swartzbaugh, Lydia Broadwick and husband Jake, and Naomi Swartzbaugh. She was predeceased by her sister, Nadine Tanger.
A committal service will be private at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
