Janice Lea Taylor, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 3, 2025, in
Cheyenne, Wyoming, at the age of 74. Born on May 15, 1951, in Douglas, Wyoming, Jan lived a full and vibrant life dedicated to her family, her faith, and her creative passions.
Jan graduated with an associate's degree in arts from Northwestern Community College in Powell, WY, after attending beauty school in Billings, MT, following high school. Her career as a cosmetologist allowed her to channel her creativity and bring joy to those around her. Over the years, Jan took on various roles that highlighted her artistic talents; she decorated cakes, framed art, and eventually ventured into the world of real estate, where she made meaningful connections with clients.
In 1970, Jan married Kneal Taylor in Powell, Wyoming, beginning a beautiful journey together. They welcomed their first child, Andrea Gwen Taylor, in 1971, followed by their son, Ryan Webb Taylor, in 1975. Jan cherished the time spent at home with her children in their formative years, nurturing them with love and support. She was a talented seamstress, creating wedding gowns for both her younger sisters and her daughter, Andrea, reflecting her dedication to family traditions and milestones.
Throughout her life, Jan was known for her kindness and willingness to help others. She was an exceptional cook and baker, with many family members and friends cherishing her culinary creations. Jan's proudest achievements included her family, particularly her children and grandchildren, and her decision to return to school later in life to pursue her associate's degree in arts. She found immense joy through creating art and enjoyed exploring various artistic mediums.
Jan held a deep love for the ocean, often drawing inspiration from trips to the Oregon Coast. Her interests extended beyond the shore; she delighted in crafting, sewing, painting, and reading, with a particular fondness for Jane Austen's works and classic films. Many treasured moments were spent watching Harry Potter movies with her grandchildren, fostering cherished bonds and shared experiences.
A devoted member of her church community, Jan actively participated in various roles, including singing in the choir and playing in the bell choir. Throughout her life, her faith served as a guiding light, grounding her in times of change and challenge. She and Kneal moved multiple times around Wyoming during their early years together, and Jan approached each relocation with grace and resilience.
In 2008, Jan and Kneal settled in Cheyenne, allowing them to be close to their grandchildren, Cole and Molly. They celebrated milestones together and attended numerous recitals, concerts, and sporting events, proudly cheering them on as their biggest supporters. Special family memories include teaching children how to make homemade marshmallows at Carpenter Elementary, highlighting Jan's love for sharing her passions with the younger generation.
Jan was active in several Masonic organizations, including Jobs Daughters and Eastern Star, contributing her time and spirit to the community. In retirement, she and Kneal joined various travel clubs, enriching their lives with adventures such as a memorable cruise to Alaska and visits to Niagara Falls, along with many trips across the United States.
Jan leaves behind a lasting legacy filled with love, creativity, and devotion. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her, as friends and family remember the warmth she brought into their lives. A memorial service in celebration of Jan's life will be held on November 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Frontier United Methodist Church located at 1888 E Four Mile Rd,
Cheyenne, WY 82009. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
