Janice Turner Vick, age 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Born on March 29, 1948, Janice was the beloved daughter of the late Bert J. Turner and Ollie B. Turner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Richard Turner (Lois); and her brother-in-law, Brent Vick.
Janice is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Larry D. Vick; her daughter, Dr. Valerie Vick; and her son, Burton Vick. She also leaves behind her sister, Joyce McMackin (Rex), and her cherished grandchildren: Emma Caroline, Thomas, Turner, Emerson, Audra, Quinton, and Celia, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.
Janice was a distinguished and deeply respected educator, dedicating her career to shaping young minds in the communities of Huntingdon, Paris, and Owensboro, Kentucky. Her commitment to education and her students left a lasting impact that extended far beyond the classroom.
Following her retirement, Janice embraced life’s quieter pleasures. She found peace sitting by the ocean at the family’s condo in Gulf Shores, Alabama, treasured time pontoon boating with her grandchildren at their retirement home on Kentucky Lake, and especially delighted in crappie fishing alongside her husband, Larry–moments that reflected her love for family, nature, and togetherness.
Honoring her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to the charity of one’s choice.
