Touched the lives of many children at the Children’s Community School
WATERBURY– It is with profound sadness and grief that the family of Janice C. Williams, age 77, of Waterbury, announce her unexpected passing at home on Thursday, July 11, 2024.
Janice was born on September 16, 1946 in Hartsville, SC, the daughter of the late Thomas and Janie Mae (Yates) Williams. She attended local schools and then worked at Children’s Community School in Waterbury as a teacher’s assistant where she touched and impacted the lives of many children. Janice liked to watch daily television shows, but was known for bringing joy and laughter to those around her with her love for singing, dancing, and jokes. Janice will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, and lively personality. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Donna L. Williams, and Bliquis Williams, her two grandchildren; Zennache Williams, and Xavier Williams, her three great grandchildren; Ziern, Yohis, Raziah Williams, her brother, Bruce Williams, aunts; Gretel (Alphonso) James of Maryland, Gwendolyn Gallashaw of NY, Maureen Thomas of SC, and her uncle, Paul Yates of Waterbury, along with many other extended family members and friends. Jeanice leaves behind her dog and loyal companion, Blanca. She was predeceased by her husband, Yahya Shaheed, and her longtime partner, Rafael Prado.
Funeral services for Ms. Williams will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1987 East Main St., Waterbury. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Relatives and friends may visit with Janice’s family on Thursday morning from 11:00 until the service at 1:00 p.m. Loving kindness is always welcome, and it only takes a moment to offer a message of condolence, words of comfort, or share a memory with the family and friends of someone important to you.
