Janie Gnias Obituary

Published by Reed Funeral Home on Jun. 14, 2011.
Janie T. (Pendziwatri) Gnias, age 77, born in Buffalo, NY on May 31, 1934, went home to be with the Lord on June 14, 2011, after battling an extended illness. Janie's strong will and courageous attitude enabled her to conquer several major illnesses throughout her life. Janie spent 26 successful years working for Massillon State Hospital, retiring in 1997. Her strong work ethic and passion for the organization have been recognized by many. A woman of many interests and talents, Janie enjoyed traveling; her family, friends and her endless love for her late husband, Stanley. A true Massillon Tiger fan and long time season ticket holder; proud fan of the Indians, and Ohio State University. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Helen (Kielaszek) and John Pendziwatri; her late husband, Stanley A. Gnias with whom she had celebrated 53 years of marriage. She is survived by her two daughters and son, Debbie (Gnias) and Tom Austin Sr. of Perry Twp.; Judith (Gnias) Trivett of Ohio and Michael & Brenda Gnias of Perry Twp; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. Reed Funeral Home will be in charge of funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to the Heart Association or St. Jude's Hospital. Those wishing to share a fond memory or their condolences may sign the Reed On-line guestbook at our website www.reedfuneralhome.com.
