Janis Alisa Blackwell, age 65, affectionately known as "Mama J" passed away on January 8, 2025. She was born on September 13, 1959, in Augusta, Georgia, to her loving parents, the late Ralph Blackwell and Geneva Harper.
Janis was the beloved mother of Nisha, Michael, Demetrius, and Marvin. She was a devoted grandmother to Jabari, Marvion, and Amare. Janis will be dearly missed by her siblings, Yvette, Ralph, Jr., Judy, Pam, and Frederick, Sr., as well as many treasured nieces and nephews.
Mama J. opened her heart and home to everyone. She will be fondly remembered for her out-going personality, good-natured banter and never being afraid to speak her own mind. She found joy in playing spades, visiting the casino, and spending cherished moments with her grandchildren. Her warmth, laughter, and love for her family will be missed.
A Homegoing Service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 4 p.m., at Slone & Co. Life Celebration Center 3556 W. 130th St. Cleveland, OH 44111.
