Janis D. Chapman, 79, of White Hall passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, at her residence.

She was born July 17, 1946, in Patterson, the daughter of Walter D. and Ruby R. Dawdy Pence. She married Ralph L. Chapman on Dec. 4, 1976, in White Hall.

Surviving are her husband, Ralph of White Hall; her children, Tami (Tadd Buhlig) Winters of Woodson, Penny (Kirby) Fay of Alsey, and Rob (Elizabeth) Winters of White Hall; her stepchildren, Pam Chapman of Rochester and Dale (Sarah) Chapman of Roodhouse; and numerous grandchildren: Ashley (Chris) Ingram, Tanner (Sierra) Fay, Morgan Winters, Adam Winters, Dakota (Abby) Cathers, Dylan (Cierra) Whicker, Jordan (Chenoa) Whicker, Brett (Cayden) Whicker, J. Tyler Benkowski, Shane Benkowski, Alyssa Newton, DJ Sweeten, Jenna Bishop, Kyle Sweeten, Taylor Sweeten, Joel Florence, Alisha Zanta, Rochelle McElroy, Catlin McElroy, C. Blake Chapman, and Justin Chapman. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Joyce (Tom) Lindsey of Liberty, Missouri, and Jeanne Strubbe of Jacksonville.

She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Tracy Sweeten, and a grandson, Jarrod Florence.

Janis was a member of White Hall First Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School superintendent, Sunday School treasurer, and held many other roles over the years. She worked as a beautician in White Hall for 55 years and also served as a librarian for the White Hall Township Library. She enjoyed reading, knitting dish rags, and traveling with her group of girlfriends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, at White Hall First Baptist Church, with interment at Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson. Visitation will be held Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Memorials are suggested to White Hall First Baptist Church or the White Hall Township Library. Daws Family Funeral Home in Roodhouse is in charge of arrangements.
