Janis Kay (Kracht) Edwards, 68, of Marysville, Kansas, unexpectedly passed away on April 15, 2024 at her home in Marysville.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, April 19 at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m.She was born on March 7, 1956, in Marysville to Ralph and Helen (Strange) Kracht. Janis was the third of 8 children born to this marriage.
Janis was a quiet person who spent much of her time at home with her mother, Helen, until she passed, and then with her daughter and family in Marysville. She spent much of her free time with Chrissy's 3 children and in later years was able to play with her great-grandson River. She attended school in Marysville and was baptized in the Mormon Church.
Janis always worked in the public. She worked at the Wagon Wheel, The Mary Marshall Manor until it was bought by the hospital, then she worked for the hospital. She finished her working career at Cambridge Place in Marysville in the dietary unit where she enjoyed cooking for the residents as much as she did for her family. In her younger days, she loved to swing dance at the Wagon Wheel and was very good at it.
Janis is survived by her children: Tracy (Mickey) Edwards of Emporia, Travis Edwards and Chrissy Parmentier of Marysville; 10 grandchildren: Jordan (Kristina) Edwards, Dalton (Courtney) Edwards, Colton Edwards, Abbey and Denton Luedders, Rylee Swearingen, Annyiah Welch, James Jones, Chance Hight (Jess Larabee), and Lyrik Hight; 2 great-grandchildren: River Hight and soon to be born Beaux Edwards and last but not least, her beloved dog, Jasper.
She is survived by siblings: David Kracht of Drummond, OK, Dennis (Ruth) Kracht of Marysville, KS. Jerald (Joyce) Kracht of Bremen, KS, Sharon Surratt (Danny Bohlmeyer) Blue Springs, NE, Samuel Kracht of Marysville, KS, Amy Walker of Suwanee, GA, Angela (Clayton) Reed of Blue Rapids, KS, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Helen Kracht.
