Janis Johnson Lyon, 77, passed away on January 16, 2026. She was born on November 9, 1948.
Janis was a longtime resident of Kamas Valley, Utah, where she built a life rooted in community, family, and friendships that spanned generations.
Janis was best known and most cherished for her role as "Nana." She wasn't Nana only to her family, but to countless others in the small community she loved. Through her many years working at Kamas Food Town, she formed lasting connections with customers and neighbors who grew to adore her warmth, kindness, and welcoming, sassy spirit.
Before she was Nana, she was Mom. Andy and Tony were the light of her life. She loved them through every season and chapter without hesitation or condition. In her eyes, they could do no wrong, and the joy they brought her lit up her world every single day.
Her love for animals was unmatched. Whether it was stray dogs brought home from football games, barn cats she faithfully fed for years while living in Woodland, the cherished pets of family and friends, the neighbor's chickens, or any creature that crossed her path, Janis loved them all freely, fiercely, and without condition.
She was famous for saying, "You can't fart in this town without me finding out," and anyone who knew her would tell you it was absolutely true. She knew everything that was happening in Kamas. Yet when one of her grandchildren needed protection after a mistake, Nana became the safest place to land. She never judged or shamed. Instead, she guided them with love, helped them make things right, and stood fiercely in their corner. Her loyalty, unconditional love, and unwavering support defined who she was.
She is survived by her sons, Tony (Jen) Dellagnola and Andy (Debbi) Dellagnola; her siblings, Jolene Zupan, Judie Schiflett, and Ervin Johnson; her best friend and daily companion Fin.
She leaves behind many beloved grandchildren: Tayler (Rilley) Fairbourn, Jordan (Trevor) Lewis, Shelby (Stephen) La Fay, Zack (Kamryn) Dellagnola, Camry (Danny) Souk, Alix Dellagnola, and Jordan (Craig) Kohler.
Janis was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Haidyn, Railee, Ryder, Blakely, Woodsen, Evelyn, Kora, Kingston, and Natalie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joyce Johnson and Ervin Johnson, her husband Ronnie Lyon, along with many loved ones, most closely her daughter-in-law Jeri Ingersoll and her great-granddaughter Sayler Fairbourn.
In her words: "Be damn careful. I love you. Muah, Muah."
