She married John (Jack) Stephen Schwenke on March 20, 1955. They entered into a lifetime partnership of 66 years until her beloved Jack passed in March of 2021.
To this union of marriage they were blessed with 4 children Vicki Whorton (Curtis), Sonia Schwenke, Fawn Martinez (Ed) and Shawn Schwenke. Janis had 11 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren whom she adored and was proud of each and everyone of them. They also dearly loved their Grandma Jan.
Janis was a true woman of faith and dedicated her life to her family and her Lord, she had been blessed with a beautiful voice and loved singing with the church choirs and the special choir, ''The Believers'' from the Nazarene Church, singing often for many community events.
Anyone who knew Janis, knew she loved her flowers and her flower gardens which were beautiful !!!! Janis and Jack also spent many hours fishing at Lake McConnahay and had their own little ''fishing lodge'' which allowed them to extend their fishing time. They spent hours on their pontoon boat and hosted family members and friends who were able to come and enjoy time with them on the lake, always the great hostess. She was also known to take off on road trips with a couple of dear friends Martha Snider and Jan Smith on many adventures that included fishing, sightseeing, hiking, shopping and in general ALL OUT FUN!! Our father referred to this trio as ''The Golden Girls''.
Janis will be remembered for her kindness, wicked sense of humor, warm smile and the compassion she had for others.
During Janis's lifetime she developed many special friendships who remained dear to her heart throughout her life. She cherished and loved you all! We hope all of you that were lucky enough to know mom, and shared fellowship and friendships, will continue to hold sweet memories in your hearts of her as she did with you.
