Jann Marie Goldberg, age 51, of Mequon and Appleton, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022. She was born on February 13th, 1971 in Atlantic City, New Jersey before moving to the Fox Valley when she was a baby.
She graduated from Appleton East High School in 1989 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Anthropology with a focus on Crime Scene Investigation from University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Through her lifetime, Jann did many different things. She was a make-up artist, both traditional and SFX, a paralegal, a guitar player, an upright bass player, an avid gardener, and ghostbuster. She could also figure out how anything worked. She was, as you may say, a Jann-of-all-trades and master of one: being a Mom. She was the best mom to Eli – it was hard to catch either of them without the other. They shared a love for computer programming and were able to go on many adventures together, including a recent trip to Silicon Valley with stops at Google and the Wozniak/Jobs garage. They also scoped out the Stanford campus so she could start plotting and strategizing where her and Eli would live when he(they) goes off to college.
She was a creative in her spare time, an amazing artist of many mediums and had a ridiculously green thumb. She loved music, both playing and listening. Her love of live music began back in Junior High when she and her friends would go to shows in the back of several mom vans. She saw everyone. Grateful Dead, Motley Crüe, Guns 'n Roses, Bob Dylan, Buddy Guy, Neil Young, Billy Idol, Crosby and Nash, Muse and Arcade Fire. From Heavy Metal to Blues and Folk, she loved it all. She was also a boxing enthusiast – starting when she was young with her Grampa Bobo, she and her dad loved to watch Boxing After Dark, while scoring the matches and screaming at the TV. Freddie Roach just lost a huge fan.
She was a political activist and an advocate for anyone or anything that needed a voice. Her sharp wit and unparalleled sense of humor garnered her a large following on twitter and in person, including a handful of "important people", who just like us, could not resist those horribly inappropriate but equally hilarious observations and musings.
Later in life, Jann became heavily involved in the Paranormal Community where she met some of her most cherished friends. She was fortunate to have the opportunity to explore some incredible landmarks including Eastern State Penitentiary, Bobby Mackey's Music World and the Birdcage Theaters in Tombstone, Arizona.
Jann is survived by the love of her life, husband Jeremy Goldberg, and their son Eli. She also leaves behind her mother Colleen "Kelly" née Graham and step-father Bill Harkins, her father David and step-mother Karen Obermeier née Kosmerchock, grandmother Bette Whitman née Russell, father and mother in-law Martin and Fern Goldberg née Wein, sister Maggie Harkins, brother Cooper Harkins, nephews Flynn Harkins, Mason and Ryder Burt, Jacob and Ozi Weiss and nieces Sophie Harkins, Ayelet and Avery Weiss. Sisters-in-law Jamie (Avi) Weiss and Annie (Chris) Burt. Uncles Jeff (Claire) Obermeier, Chad Harkins, Bill (Kim) Graham and Mark Behr, Aunts Margie (Vinny) D'Orazio and Kathy (Julie Carlson) Breitzman, Cousins: Dan and Andy Parker, Jill and Heidi Vaniman, Laura Harris, Jeremy Landig, William "Will" Graham III, Bree Gonzalez, Hannah Ehley, Josh Graham, Sara Lorge and Laura Breitzman. She also leaves behind her dogs Winnie and Big Hoss, Judy the Jardine, cat Nicki and hermit crabs Hank, Joe and Schmo. She will also be missed by many very dear friends and adoring fans. Jann was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents William and Betty Graham, her paternal grandfather, Harland "Bud" Obermeier, her uncle Tommy Obermeier, her aunt and uncle BJ and Larry Parker and Aunt Bernie Socol.
