JANN WOLCOTT Obituary

JANN WOLCOTT
NOVEMBER 22, 1943 - JUNE 2, 2023
Santa Fe - Obituary for Jann Arrington-Wolcott.
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce that the world lost a luminous and glorious soul. Jann Arrington-Wolcott, a woman of many talents, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and creativity.
Jann was born on November 22, 1943, in Deming, NM, to Jack and Katherine Arrington, and raised on a cattle ranch near Las Cruces. From her youth, Jann's heart was filled with a boundless curiosity as well as a passion for the arts. She pursued her passions with a zest that was infectious.
As a teacher, Jann inspired countless students to follow their dreams and leave the world a better place for having been a part of it. As a model and actress, she brought a unique blend of grace and vitality to every performance, even traveling abroad with a USO tour of Annie Get Your Gun, playing the part of Annie. As a spiritual seeker, she delved deep into the mysteries of the different belief systems and the universe, always seeking to understand the secrets of existence. And as a writer, she poured her heart and soul onto the page, creating works that will continue to touch lives for generations to come. Her first novel, Brujo, Seduced by Evil, was even made into a movie before the book's publication.
Jann was a devoted wife to her husband, John, who is retired from a 35-year career with the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Jann was an immensely loving mother, grandmother, daughter, friend, and animal lover. She gave of herself selflessly, always ready with a kind word or a comforting embrace. Her generous heart knew no bounds, and she spread love and joy wherever she went.
Jann's life was not without hardship and heartache. She suffered the great loss of her father, Jack Arrington, her mother, Katherine Arrington, her brother, Jack E. Arrington, and, beyond devastatingly, her sons, Jeffery Szalay and David Szalay. But through it all, she remained a pillar of strength and grace, inspiring all who knew her with her steadfast spirit, though a part of her heart was forever broken.
Jann is survived by her devoted husband of almost 50 years, Dr. John H. Wolcott, her daughter, Janna K. (Szalay) Dame, step-children Anne King and Dr. Ted Wolcott. 12 beloved grandchildren, and many cherished friends, and cousins that she kept close in her heart. She is also survived by her precious canine companions, Rico and Lola.
Jann's life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at the Rivera Family Chapel, located at 417 Rodeo Rd., Santa Fe, NM. It will be a day of remembrance, of laughter, of tears, and love.
In honor of Jann's memory, the family requests that donations be made to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society. Jann was a lifelong animal lover, and she would be overjoyed to know that her legacy is helping to care for the creatures she held so dear.
Jann Arrington-Wolcott was a force of nature, a shining star in a world that can often seem dark and cold. Her light will continue to shine on, a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who knew her. Rest in peace, Jann. Until we see you again, you will be terribly missed, but never forgotten. We love you forever and always.
