Jeannette S. (Corrie) Jarrell, 95, passed away August 27, 2025. She was born May 11, 1930, in Yorklyn to the late Roland and Mildred (Hanna) Corrie. She was married to her elementary school sweetheart, Alexander Jarrell, Jr., for 42 wonderful years before his death in 1991. Jeannette graduated H. Fletcher Brown High School in 1948 after being honored as Miss Industry by the Delaware Chamber of Commerce. Jeannette's married life was spent farming in Hockessin, working a large vegetable garden, drag racing with her husband and children, enjoying all kinds of needlework, and was an exceptional cook. She enjoyed close family and many friends, and was one of the longest members of Ebenezer Methodist Church in Newark.
Jeannette is survived by her children, Richard Jarrell, Sr. and wife Sandra (The Villages, Florida), Judith DeStafney (Wilmington), grandsons Richard Jarrell, Jr. (Newark), Timothy Jarrell and wife Kayla (Elsmere), four great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and other close family. Per her request, burial will be private.
The family expresses appreciation to the staff at Coral Springs Nursing Care Center and AccentCare Hospice for providing Jeannette with exceptional care and comfort.
The service will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to an organization benefitting medical research, services to children, or animal rescue.
