Jannie Holmes, a vibrant spirit whose laughter and sharp wit lit up every room she entered, passed away peacefully at her residence on March 29, 2026. Born on April 26, 1940, in Pender County, North Carolina, Jannie's journey was a tapestry woven with love, humor, and an undeniable zest for life.

Her career as a Food Service Manager for the School stood as a testament to her dedication not only to her craft but to the community she cherished. Jannie was much more than her profession—she was a comedian and a sassy presence who embraced life's challenges with a smile and a quick quip. Friends and family often turned to her for comfort, counsel, and the joyful spark that only she could provide.

Jannie’s proudest accomplishments were deeply rooted in the heart of her home. Known far and wide as the cook whose meals were as lovingly made as they were mouthwateringly delicious, she nurtured her family with more than just food—she fed their souls. The legacy she leaves behind is one of warmth, flavor, and unyielding love.

Beyond her culinary gifts, Jannie enjoyed the quiet pleasures of puzzles and reading—activities that mirrored her thoughtful and inquisitive nature. Each completed puzzle piece was a metaphor for the life she led: complex, rich, and deeply rewarding.

Funeral Services

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 5, 2026,  2:00 pm to at the Union Chapel Baptist Church, located at 12401 U.S. 421 in Burgaw, North Carolina. The family welcomes friends and loved to a visitation Saturday April 4, 2025 from 5:00 -7:00 pm at Dunn Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 810 W Wilmington St, Burgaw, NC, to share stories and honor the remarkable woman they loved so dearly.
