Jarald Scott "Scotty" Clement, 63, passed away peacefully at his home on February 7, 2026. Scotty was born on May 24, 1962, in
Hazlehurst, Mississippi, and was the beloved son of Clem R. Clement and Marie Reynolds Clement.
Scotty was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his son, Heath Clement of
Clinton, Mississippi, and his grandson, Atlas Heath Clement, who was a great source of pride and joy in his life. He is also survived by Denise of
Clinton, Mississippi. Scotty will be deeply missed by his brothers, Sammy Clement (Karen) of
Crystal Springs, Mississippi, Lynn Clement (Michelle) of Zachary, Louisiana, and Todd Clement of
Crystal Springs, Mississippi, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his cousins in Houma, Louisiana.
Scotty was preceded in death by his son, Tyler Clement; his parents, Clem R. Clement and Marie Reynolds Clement; his maternal grandparents, Samuel Grady Reynolds and Nettie Pickering Reynolds; his paternal grandparents, Steve Clement and Mattie Jasper Clement; and his special friend, Susan Marsh.
A graduate of Copiah Academy, Class of 1980, Scotty lived a life defined by hard work and independence. He was a successful insurance agent and owner of three agencies, which he later sold, and he was also widely known for his skill in fence building, turning that expertise into a respected business.
Scotty had a deep love for sports and the outdoors. He was a lifelong Ole Miss Rebels football fan, and as a child admired Johnny Unitas and the Baltimore Colts. He cherished time spent fishing and hunting with his sons and friends, moments that became lasting memories.
Those who knew Scotty will remember him for his sense of humor, the real friendships he built over a lifetime, and his love of friendly arguments-especially with his brother Sammy, often just to see him get mad. Scotty was very successful at it, but no matter how spirited the debates became, they always ended in laughter and love.
Above all, Scotty was a devout Christian, baptized at an early age and faithful throughout his life. His faith guided him and gave him peace.
Scotty leaves behind a legacy of faith, laughter, loyalty, and love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."
