Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory - Manitowoc on Mar. 27, 2024.
Jarey Joseph Steinbrecker passed away at his home in Crooked Lake on March 25, 2024, at age 56, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Manitowoc on May 29, 1967 to Elton and Diane (Bednarz) Steinbrecker. Jarey graduated from Lincoln High School in 1985. He most recently worked for Vinton Construction for 20 years up until his cancer diagnosis. Some considered Jarey the "Mayor" of Crooked Lake with his willingness to help people in his community whenever they needed it. He also served on the Crooked Lake Volunteer Fire Department. Jarey was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved being a father and grandfather, and also had a special love for his nieces and nephews.
Jarey is survived by his parents Elton and Diane; his daughter Samantha (Patrick) Burke; granddaughter Ireland; significant-other of Brenda Braun and their dog Sadie; siblings Jodi (Dale) DuPont, Jeffrey Steinbrecker, and Jennifer Ledvina; and his niece and nephews Travis (Emily Jagemann) DuPont and their child Chase, Jake DuPont, Emma (Kyle) Wangelin, and Nathan Steinbrecker. He is also loved by other family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Vernon and Caroline Steibrecker, and Oscar and Rose Bednarz; as well as his beloved Lab Gonzo.
Cremation has occurred at Harrigan Parkside Crematory Chapel. The family will greet relatives and friends at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 628 N. Water St., Manitowoc, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. There will additional visitation at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc, on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow at City Limits Bar and Banquet Hall.
Jarey was one of a kind with his sense of humor, wit, and outgoing personality. He was always the life of the party, and if there wasn't a party -- he made one! He will be greatly missed by many.
