Jashawn L. Lavan

Jashawn L. Lavan, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on May 9, 2025, at the age of 20. Born on September 23, 2004, Shawn brought joy and laughter into the lives of all who knew him. He possessed a spirited and engaging personality, often teasing and playfully aggravating those closest to him, a testament to his vibrant and mischievous nature.
Shawn had a deep love for children and babies, his gentle heart shining through in his interactions with the youngest members of his family. He was known for his stubbornness and his desire was for his family to remain close.
A true country boy at heart, Shawn loved to ride horses, the tranquility of fishing, and being on a four-wheeler. These activities reflected his adventurous spirit and connection to nature.
Shawn's memory will be cherished by his parents, Adrean Lavan, Sr. and Jennifer McAllister Lavan; longtime, longtime girlfriend, Raychelle Trahan; brothers, Adrean Lavan, Jr. & wife, Stefanie, Xavier Lavan, Aveion Lavan, Deondre Lavan, Andrew Lavan, and Alex Lavan; grandparents, Glenwood McAllister & wife, Mandy Frank and Alfred Lavan; nieces, Aylana Lavan, Ellie McAllister, and Eliana McAllister; a host of family and friends.
He is preceded in passing by his grandmother, Elmira Lavan.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 8:30 a.m., until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 a.m., in the Reed Chapel at Riley Smith & Sons, 315 N 14th Street, Kinder, Louisiana. Rev. Rudell Kirklin will be officiating. Interment will follow at Botley Cemetery. A repass will be held back at the Smith Hall at Riley Smith & Sons.
