Jason Robert Baldwin, 49, of New Orleans, LA, passed away unexpectedly on November 10, 2022.

Jason was born in St. Paul, MN on August 25, 1973 and at 6 months old was adopted by Barbara Russ and Robert Baldwin. In 1979, the family moved to Duluth where Jason lived until he moved to the Twin Cities after high school. Jason was passionate about music, food, football, and mixing a top-notch cocktail.

As a child, Jason enjoyed playing sports; he played varsity football and ran varsity track at Duluth East, where he graduated in 1992. Jason’s true passion, though, was music. He played saxophone in the Duluth East band and jazz band and went to college to study music production and technology. Jason played saxophone with different groups around the twin cities for years and was proud to have worked amongst some of the greats of the Minneapolis music scene. Eventually, Jason fell into bartending, was good at it, and that’s how he decided to make a living. Jason’s skills as a bartender took him on some great adventures, including working on river cruises for months at a time. That eventually took him down to New Orleans where he’s lived for the past 6 years.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, Robert Baldwin and his grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Barb Russ; his stepfather, Neil Glazman; his stepmother, Kate Baldwin; his siblings Derek (Lori) Baldwin, Bliss (Foster) Peterson, Jennifer Wyss, Matthew Wyss, Andrea (Andrew) Knutson, and Sara Jane Baldwin; nephews Jordan Meyer, Carter Peterson, Hunter Peterson, Jack Peterson, Henry Peterson, Gray Knutson, Davis Baldwin, Mylo Knutson, Max Baldwin, and niece Mae Knutson; friend Nate Nason, who Jason thought of as his “son;” and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. The family is thankful to Jason’s loving friends Brandon Brown, Rachel Smith, Cullen Lawlor, Chasin Sandefer, and especially his former partner Ricky Anderson, who, along with siblings Bliss and Derek, were all by his side when he passed. Thanks also to Dougherty Funeral Home for helping with arrangements. A celebration of Jason’s life will be announced at a later time.
