Obituary published on Legacy.com by DuBore Funeral Home - Warren on May 13, 2024.
Jason Bye, 52, of
Highlands Ranch, CO, lived a life that ended too soon, taking his wife's life and then his own on May 7, 2024.
Jason Edward was born on April 7, 1972, in
Crookston, MN, to Charles and Susan (Gaber) Bye. Raised in Angus, MN, he grew up "going to town" in Warren. This was made all the more constant when he began dating Lisa Erickson his Junior year. Jason excelled in football, basketball, and track, graduating from Warren High School in 1990. He attended NDSU for engineering but left early because he couldn't wait to get married. On December 19, 1992, Jason and Lisa were married, starting their life together in Fargo. Jason worked all manner of jobs in tech support before finishing an online degree in Computer Science, later landing a job at Harland Financial. When they wanted him to relocate to Colorado he and Lisa jumped at the idea. He had a great passion for his Jeep (in which his family rode with white knuckles) and enjoyed continually upgrading it. Supportive husband he was, Jason happily went along while Lisa shopped and rarely complained.
His life and home in the States being settled, Jason set his sights further afield. Feeling a call to spread the gospel, Jason took a mission trip to Burkina Faso, west Africa, that became his "home" away from home. In addition to sharing their love of the Lord, Jason worked tirelessly improving technologies in the school and community they served, working with young children, Lisa at his side. In 2011 they became Calebs with Community Bible Study International and returned to Africa many times over the next decade.
Jason had this uncanny ability to walk you through most any technical problem over the phone, a skill that served him well. He was easy to talk to and, understanding your issue, would help correct it with utmost patience. He was a mediator between his younger siblings, having a soft spot for his sister, and sharing a passion with his brother for restoring cars including a 1971 Mach One Mustang and a 1970 Dodge Coronet.
He knew how to see the face of Christ in others. While we cannot understand what happened, we have both faith and hope, knowing that nothing- neither tribulation nor distress- can ever separate us from the love of Christ.
Jason is survived by his parents, Chuck and Sue Bye; siblings, Darin (Belinda) Bye, and Shawna Bye; nieces and nephews, Dylan, Peyton, and Lyla Bye, and Brady and Abbie Johnson; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many friends he leaves behind at home and abroad.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Helen Bye, and Edward and Theresa (Weiland) Gaber; and uncles, Robert "Skip" and Ronald Bye, and Robert Gaber.
