Jason Dean Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Village Cremation Service, Inc - Chula Vista on May 17, 2024.
Jason Lewis Dean of Santee California, died peacefully with his family on May 2, 2024, at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego California after a six-month-long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57 years old.
Jason was born October 2, 1966, in Oregon City, Oregon. The following year his family moved to the San Diego area, eventually settling in Pacific Beach. It was there Jason first developed his lifelong love of the water and the ocean. Jason graduated from Pacific Beach Junior High School and from Mission Bay High School in 1985. During high school, he was a member of the championship wrestling team. Jason was an avid surfer and accomplished fisherman. In addition to recreational fishing, he worked on a commercial ocean fishing boat and at SeaWorld.
After High School Jason attended and Graduated from Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix, Arizona with a degree in Automotive Engineering. He returned to San Diego to his first auto mechanic position at Guy Hill Cadillac, and later at Midas Muffler. Seeking better job opportunities he moved to Virginia to live near his family. Jason transferred to a local Midas Muffler Shop and then with improved skills, moved on to more advanced automotive work. Jason also became well known as a mechanic who was honest and practiced integrity in all his work, something he carried with him throughout his life.
In Virginia, he met his soulmate, Helen Anthony. They dated for several years and were married in a beautiful Virginia plantation ceremony on May 3, 2003. Their son Brody was born on November 22, 2006. Helen and Brody became the center of Jason's world for the remainder of his life.
In 2015, Jason, Helen, and Brody listened to the "siren's call" of California; the weather, the surf, the friends, the work environment, the prospective advantages for Brody, and relocated to the San Diego area.
Jason will be remembered for many things; his love of the ocean, fishing, and surfing. He was a caring and helpful friend. He loved his wife and son above all. He had an incredible memory. His favorite type of music was reggae and his musical hero Bob Marley. He cared about the future of America. He had a fighting spirit and was a loyal friend.
Jason is survived by his wife of 21 years, Helen Anthony Dean; his 17-year-old son, Brody Dean, both of Santee, CA; his brother, Jeffrey Dean of Olney, MD; his father, Winston Dean of Murrieta, CA, and mother, Lana Rainville of Haymarket, VA.
The Memorial Service for Jason will be held May 30, 2024, from 1-4 PM in the Chapel at Care Center Cremation and Burial, 7403 Princess View Drive San Diego, CA 92120.
