In sweet remembrance we celebrate the life of Jason (Jake) Dietrich age 94, who passed peacefully Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Generations at Neighbors in Byron, IL. He was born a beloved youngest son “the baby” & sibling of 10 on August 1, 1929 near Leaf River Illinois, the son of Russell Sr. and Cora (Drury) Dietrich. Jason graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1947. He served his country in the U.S. Army and came home to be a great friend & loving husband to “his best girl, Betty Smith” throughout 72 years of loving marriage which began on Feb. 16, 1952 at the Congregational Christian Church in Stillman Valley, IL. Jason enjoyed an active outdoor “small farm” life with a large loving family & many friends filled with social dancing, card games, camping, cookouts, and traveling. He retired after many years from Chrysler Corporation and remained a loyal follower of Chrysler and the Cubs throughout his life. Jason is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Cora Dietrich, and his siblings Lloyd Dietrich(Dean), Elizabeth”Sis” Guyer(Glenn), Irene Borneman(Glenn), Pauline Swanson(Martin), John Dietrich(Phyllis), Dorothy Garner(Harold), Harold Dietrich, Robert Dietrich, and Russell Dietrich Jr.(Jane). To continue his legacy of loving traditions are his wife Betty Dietrich of Stillman Valley, his 8 children Roger Dietrich, Deborah DeVaney, Dawn Griffin(Gary), Dennis Dietrich(Cary), Doreen Hawkins(Craig), Robin Hahn(Bill), Betsy Johannsen(Craig), and Jennifer Jones(Mark). Sister-in-laws Lois Dietrich and Donna Dietrich, Additionally many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 136 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Stillman Valley, IL with Pastor Barry Norris officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service at the funeral home from 9:00 – 11:00 AM. A memorial fund is established in Jason’s name and may be directed to his family.
