Salt Lake City, UT-With deep sorrow we announce the passing of our son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jason Michael Soulier. Jason unexpectedly died on December 28, 2024, while serving as a mission president with his beloved wife, Jennifer Hinckley Soulier, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lyon, France.
Jason's joyful soul entered the world on February 15, 1970, in Richmond, Virginia to his parents, Michael Wesley Soulier and Barbara Frost Soulier. After nine years in Virginia, Jason spent the remainder of his growing up years in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. Wilmington, Delaware was nearby, and where he attended high school at Tower Hill, and participated in youth activities at church. Jason was the consummate older brother to Matt and his twin sisters Elisa and Kate.
While attending the University of Utah Jason quickly found his place in the Sigma Chi fraternity and student government. After his freshman year he accepted a call to the Switzerland Geneva Mission, which instilled in him a deep love for that part of the world and ignited his passion for missionary service that would continue throughout his life.
After his mission, Jason returned to the "U" where he served as student body president before graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Jason appreciated and supported the "U" throughout his life.
On December 27, 1994, Jason married his wife Jennie in the Salt Lake Temple. Their marriage was a partnership of devotion, support, and love. They celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary the day before Jason's passing. Together they have four wonderful children: Annie (Lorenzo), parents of Jason's two beloved grandsons, Jason James ("JJ") and Leo; Jake (Maddie); Sarah; and Lily (currently serving a mission in Tahiti).
Jason had wonderful mentors who helped him develop his career path, which eventually led to his love of and aptitude for sales. With his young family he lived in Texas, Virginia, Boston, and Utah leaving a lasting impact wherever they were. They eventually settled in a wonderful home in East Mill Creek among beloved neighbors and friends.
Jason enjoyed spending time outdoors as an avid skier, hiker, and golfer. His home was a favorite gathering place with a thunderous home theater, a well-stocked kitchen, and a pool open to friends and family. He was a devoted father who so loved his children--supporting their activities, assisting with homework, and preparing them to live a full and meaningful life. He loved to tell stories and give rides in his favorite car, the "Batmobile."
Jason was devoted to his Savior and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He wholeheartedly accepted church callings, including serving as a bishop in Boston, as a member of the mission presidency in Salt Lake City, and as a counselor in his stake presidency in East Mill Creek. His call to serve as a mission president in the France Lyon Mission (which covered the same area where he served in his youth) was a dream come true. Though there for only six months, Jason tirelessly worked to guide and inspire his missionaries with his joyful enthusiasm and faith in the work of bringing others closer to Jesus Christ.
Jason leaves a legacy of love for his eternal companion Jennie, his children, his family, friends, and their wonderful missionaries. He constantly shared his joyful disposition, embraced others warmly, and demonstrated his firm faith in his Savior Jesus Christ. He wisely reminded his missionaries: "Remember, it is not faith in the outcome, it is faith in HIM. We strive to serve Him and to emulate Him, especially in times of challenge."
Jason's family is so grateful for the generous outpouring of love and support as we mourn his passing and celebrate his life. Our appreciation and love for him, and lessons learned from him will ever be with us!
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Church Missionary Fund in Jason's memory.
