Dr. Javaid Alamgir Durrani, 79, passed away after a battle with ALS on November 16, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family. Although he passed in Davidson, NC, Dr. Durrani was truly a citizen of the world. He was born on November 1, 1946 in Ludhiana, British India. He was raised in Lahore, Pakistan where he came to be known as Bhaijan (Elder Brother) by his immediate and large extended family due to his uncommon dignity and demeanor. Through the Fulbright Fellowship, Dr. Durrani earned a Ph.D. In Geophysical Engineering in 1980 from Colorado School of Mines. He had long and successful career in oil exploration and is the holder of numerous scientific patents. He traveled the world, from the fjords of Norway, to Cafe Society in the South of France, and back to his beloved mountains of Pakistan. But without a doubt, Dr. Durrani's dearest love is his bereaved family whom include his son Mustafa Durrani, daughter Dr. Raisa Durrani, daughter Zareen Durrani, son Zafar Durrani, and former wife and forever friend Nancy Durrani. He is also lovingly survived by grandchildren Isabella, Gabriel, Javaid, Zahir, and Jahangir; brother Saleem, sister Simeen, and sister Nasreen and countless nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his devotion, dignity, character, and kindness. Janazah Prayer service was held on Tuesday, November 18th at the Community Mosque of Winston Salem with burial to follow at Al Noor Cemetery. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and pray for his everlasting peace.
May Allah grant him peace and the highest place in Jannah.
