Javier Mariscal Jr.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Javier Mariscal Jr., affectionately known by many as Javi, JJ, or Bubba, on November 9, 2025.

Born in Denver, Colorado on March 9, 1988.

As the great Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Javi had the remarkable ability to make everyone he encountered feel special and loved, and his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.

JJ is survived by his loving father, Javier Mariscal, stepmother, Blanca Marscal; his adoring mother, Evelia Smith, stepfather, Darin Smith; his caring siblings, Adilene, Alijah, Keenan, Dayanara, and Alexander; his favorite niece, Leili, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. His family was the core of his life, and their shared memories are filled with laughter, love, and the kind of joy that only a tight-knit family can bring.

Javi began his journey at MSU Denver as a student and a student employee in ITS, graduating in 2017. His path eventually led him back to MSU Denver in 2024, where he served as a Network Administrator with Infrastructure Services. He was a dedicated Jr Network Administrator, a position he held for eight years in the field of Computer Information Systems. His colleagues admired him for his diligence, intelligence, and his unique ability to solve complex problems with ease and grace. His enthusiasm for his work was infectious, inspiring those around him to strive for excellence. Javi had a great sense of humor, he was dedicated to his work, and built many lasting relationships during his time at MSU.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Javi will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. MST at Valverde Presbyterian Church, located at 430 South Tejon Street, Denver, Colorado, 80223.

In his memory, we invite all who knew JJ to share their memories and upload photos to the memorial page. The loss of Javier will be felt deeply, but his spirit will continue to thrive through the love and memories he leaves behind.

His life was filled with love, laughter, and joy, and we hope to keep his spirit alive by sharing the wonderful moments we were fortunate enough to have with him.
