Jawhara Young

Jawhara Young of Middletown passed away unexpectedly on Thanksgiving night, November 27, 2025 at the Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown. Jawhara was just a few weeks shy of her 43rd birthday, on December 23rd. She is survived by her husband and life long partner of almost 30 years, Gregory Young, their children, Cameron Young, Brennan Young & Preston Young; her parents, Flora Mcgee and Randall Robinson and his wife Velma; her parents in law, Michael Young and Charlene Young; her siblings, Neeve Preston, Randall Barber, Tauheedah Graham, Shula Robinson, Shayaa Robinson, Yahya Robinson, Taqiyya Robinson, Hassaan Smith, many nieces and nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends. She was a cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend who lived to protect, love and comfort everyone around her. Jawhara had a heart that refused to let anyone go without.
A graduate of Monticello High School, Jawhara went on to earn an AAS in Marketing and Management, and a BS in Accounting and Business from Sage college of Albany in 2006. Near the end of her college years, she welcomed her first child and devoted herself fully to raising her family. She married her highschool sweetheart in a beautiful destination wedding in Ochos Rios, Jamaica, her favorite place to return with her husband whenever she needed a peaceful escape. Jawhara was guided by her love of numbers, numerology, and the patterns she believed they revealed. After many dedicated years as a stay at home mother, she recently returned to the workforce as a Bookeeper, proud to be doing work she truly enjoyed.
Jawhara's name means "jewel", and she embodied that meaning in every sense. She was funny, unfiltered in the best way, loving, loyal, beautiful, and uniquely special. She adored the holiday season, lovingly calling Thanksgiving her "second birthday' and each year for Christmas, she transformed her home into a winter wonderland complete with thirteen Christmas trees. She was, and will always be, the heart of her family. Her absence is indescribable and her spirit will be deeply, deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025 from 12pm to 1pm at VanInwegen Kenny Funeral Home, located at 111 Sullivan Street, Wurtsboro, NY 12790. Funeral services will commence immediately after at 1pm. Burial will follow at Sylvan Cemetery, in Wurtsboro. Arrangements are under the direction of VanInwegen Kenny Funeral Home.
