Jay Bethea age 84 of Hope Mills NC entered the gates of heaven on February 18th 2025 after a battle with vascular Dementia in his home surrounded by his family, whom he loved with all his heart.
Jay was born in Dunn NC to his parents, Allen and Pearl Bethea who proceeded him in death. Jay graduated from 71st high school and attended Wingate College. In his earlier years he worked along with his father in the family business, Bethea Camper Company where they had a gift to build almost anything. From early 1980-2021 he worked along with his wife operating Bethea Truck Tops. He was a master and perfectionist in all he did. A long time member of Northwood Temple Church. Jay was a kind, compassionate and generous man.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory the love of his life and best friend of sixty-two years, Molly. His daughter Jaye Lynn Britt who was his pride and joy and caregiver. Grandson Brandon Britt and wife Brie of Wilmington NC with whom he had a special bond. Great grand-daughters, Emmersyn and Finley. Faithful furry companion, Milo. Sister Diane Bethea Classen (James) sisters in law Joyce Gordon and Sabrina Aaron. A special nephew, Joe Armstrong (Nancy). Numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 1:30 pm at Sullivan's Highland Chapel with Dr. John Hedgepeth and Rev. Eddie Wood presiding. The burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at the funeral home.
