Jay M. Cullen, 72, passed peacefully at his home on January 3, 2026 in Roselle, IL.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Jay’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He was the beloved husband of Angela M. Cullen (Paletta) for 42 years. He was the proud father of Kristen Cullen and Michael (Sarah) Cullen. He was delighted to be “Pop Pop” to his grandchildren Lucas, Theodore, and Eliana, and loved watching Lucas and Theo play sports and sharing countless moments of laughter and joy with all three.

Jay had a naturally jovial spirit and a keen sense of humor—always ready with a joke or wisecrack—that made people feel instantly at ease. His kindness, loyalty, and steady support made him a source of strength for those fortunate enough to know him.

He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including playing poker, solving word puzzles, and watching movies—particularly action thrillers, horror, and science fiction films. A lifelong Chicago sports fan, Jay could often be found cheering on the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs, a passion he loved sharing with his children and grandchildren.

Jay is survived by his loving wife Angela; his children Kristen and Michael (Sarah); his grandchildren Lucas, Theodore, and Eliana; and his brothers Steve (Cathy), Dan, Bill (Julie), and Tom Cullen, along with many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lois Cullen (Albright).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on January 17, 2026, at Saint Matthew Catholic Church, 1005 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg, Illinois, at 10:00 a.m.

Jay’s legacy of humor, love, and unwavering devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.  You could always count on him to be there for you, no matter what. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered and loved.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to St Jude’s Children Research Hospital (stjude.org) or Heartland Animal Shelter (heartlandanimalshelter.org).
