Jay Scott Davis, a beloved father, husband, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 70 in his hometown of Austin, Texas on August 21, 2023. Known for his wisdom, his loving nature, and his handy skills, Jay was a pillar of strength and a beacon of light to those who knew him.
Jay was born in Austin, Texas on July 16, 1953, to his parents, James Delbert Davis and Dorothy Caffall Davis. His roots were firmly planted in Austin, and he carried the spirit of the city with him throughout his life.
Jay was a loving husband and best friend to Kathy More Davis for over 50 years. They were the love of each other's lives. Together, they raised two accomplished and amazing children, Scott Wesley Davis and Kelly DeAnne Davis Triplett. Jay's love for his family was evident in the way he prioritized their happiness over ambition. He loved his children's spouses, and he was a proud grandfather to Bella Ashley Triplett, who brought immense joy and laughter into his life. He also shared a close bond with his older brother Jim Davis of Blanco.
Education was an important part of Jay's life. He studied Business at St. Edwards University and the University of Texas at Austin, and later pursued Computer Science at Austin Community College. His thirst for knowledge was evident in his career and his ability to adapt to new challenges. Jay spent most of his professional journey as a skilled carpenter and contractor, running his own business. Later, he took on a second career as a systems administrator, and also spent time studying the stock market, a testament to his adaptability and determination.
Music was a significant part of Jay's life. He was a talented bass player in the country band Texas Blue Norther. His love for music was infectious and brought joy to many. Jay was also an animal and nature-lover, often found exploring the outdoors, and a Jack-of-all-trades Mr. Fix-It, always ready to lend a hand and share his expertise.
Jay's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the pursuit of happiness. He was an intelligent man who imparted his wisdom to those around him, a loving father and husband who cherished his family, and a handyman who could fix anything that came his way. His legacy of love, wisdom, and skill will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him.
Jay Scott Davis will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His spirit lives on in the lives of those he touched, and his memory will forever be etched in their hearts. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
