August 31, 2024
It's Saturday, August 31, 2024 and I have just received an e-mail from Legacy.com regarding Jay's upcoming anniversary. The timing of this email may be a little out of the ordinary because I was feeling rather down yesterday after hearing the news about a couple of young men, Johnny (Johnny Hockey) Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau, who played hockey at Boston College and beyond were tragically killed while riding their bikes in their home town. They were there to attend and be in their younger sisters wedding. I didn't know either of them but remember seeing them play together at a Hockey East Tournament. I can't even try to imagine the pain that their family(s) are going through and was contemplating it all day yesterday and into today. I wish that I had Jay here to talk to because I know that he most likely was a fan of their talent and enjoyed watching them on a hockey rink being part of the hockey community. I also know that Jay would have the same feelings of praise for them as well as what the loss would have meant to their family and may have had some comforting perspective. Having this legacy come up today may or may not be a heavenly coincidence but I will take it is. Reading Jays obituary again and remembering him from our days at Ford Credit gives me some level of comfort and I appreciate Jay still giving back, even after his passing. My wife and I will be heading out to Yellowstone National Park in the next couple of weeks and I will be sure to say hi! to Jay when I am there. RIP

Sorry for your losses. In my childhood days Jay introduced me to hockey, and of course taught me to be a goalie. I´m sure he has had a positive effect with many. God Bless!

I am very saddened to hear of Jay's passing. I worked with Jay at Ford Credit for many years. Jay was always smiling, fun loving and having a good time. That didn't take away from his knowledge and professionalism. He was great! source of Ford Credit knowledge and helped everyone he could. Jay and I talked hockey all the time and considered Hockey guys as the best! My son was also a goalie and Jay liked that. I always told him that I liked being on this side of the puck and he always laughed. He loved talking family as well. I will never feel sorry for myself because Jay made difficult situations look easy. My sincerest condolences to Jay's family and friends. He was a good man!
