The family of Jay Harold Jacoby, 81, of Pottsville, is saddened to share he passed away March 10.
Always friendly and willing to lend a hand, Jay will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marilyn "Lu" (Shaffer) Jacoby, married for 34 years; sibling, Dick Jacoby; children, Donald and Janice; stepchildren, Brad (Kim), Penny (Louis) and Brian (Deb); eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in Pottsville, Jay tirelessly volunteered at Humane Fire Company for over 50 years.
He also served in the Navy from 1960-64.
Jay worked at Capitol Trailways for 15 years and Deka Battery for 18 years, until his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed fishing on his boat and working part time at Hess Catering until 2017.
A memorial and military honors burial in Indiantown Gap National Ceremony will be scheduled in the near future. Arrangements are entrusted to Cremation Society of Pennsylvania.
