Jay B Kirk, a beloved father, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on August 10, 2025, in Madison, Ohio, at the age of 88. Born on September 6, 1936, in Virginia, Jay lived a life rich with love, laughter, and numerous adventures. He dedicated many years of his working life as a union laborer where he became known for his steadfast work ethic and commitment to his craft.
Jay was more than just his career; he was a passionate soul who cherished the great outdoors. His love for hunting, fishing, and NASCAR filled his days with excitement and joy, often shared with family and friends who will forever hold dear the memories of their time together. His proudest accomplishments, however, were the bonds he formed and nurtured with his beloved family.
He leaves behind his cherished children: Robert Kirk of Madison, Richard Kirk of Lorain, Deedee (Matt) Price, Richelle Ebbert (Les) of Madison, Rhonda Kirk of Madison, and Scott (Marissa) Kirk of Geneva. Jay also treasured the moments spent with his sister Virginia of Painesville, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each a testament to the legacy of love he cultivated throughout his life.
Jay was preceded in death by his loving wife, Loretta, his parents, Curtis and Verna (nee: Johnson) Kirk, his brothers, Cecil, Bob, and Jimmy, his sister, Shirley and his beloved son Ron Kirk. These losses shaped him into the caring and compassionate man loved by so many, yet he carried their memories with him, adding depth to his character and warmth to his interactions.
The community is invited to gather in remembrance of Jay at Potti & Marc F. Burr Funeral Homes-Madison, located at 2726 Hubbard Road, Madison, OH 44057, for visitation on August 15, 2025. The first session will begin at 2:00 PM and continue until 4:00 PM, with a second visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on August 16, 2025, at 11:30 AM, followed by a graveside service at Madison Memorial Cemetery, located at 3055 Arcola Road, Madison, OH 44057, starting at 12:30 PM.
As we mourn the passing of this wonderful man, we celebrate a life well-lived, remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to know him. Jay B Kirk will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, leaving behind an indelible mark that will resonate through the generations to come.
