Jay Alan Russell, a true outdoorsman and an unabashedly stubborn redneck with a heart of gold, has hung up his hunting boots and fishing rods for the great beyond. He passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a family who cherished him deeply, despite his knack for being as hard-headed as an old oak tree.
Alan was the father of two children: Christopher Russell (Destiny Kuehne), Amanda Russell. He was also the proud son of J.W and Bonnie, carrying on a family legacy filled with grit and grace. He was preceded in death by his loving yet equally stubborn wife, Becky Russell, who undoubtedly greeted him with a sarcastic smile and a long to-do list in heaven. For Alan, happiness was found in the simple things—like the stillness of a fishing line or the thrill of a good hunt. He was at his best when surrounded by the wild beauty of the outdoors, where he could stubbornly insist on doing things his way (which, of course, was always the "right" way). But beneath that tough exterior was a soft-hearted man who loved fiercely and deeply, especially when it came to his grandchildren. They were the light of his life, and he found immense joy in spending time with them.
Alan’s unique blend of orneriness and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him. May he forever find the best fishing spots and hunting grounds in the skies above.A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from 5-7PM at the Naegele, Kleb & Ihlendorf Funeral Home, 3900 Montgomery Road, Norwood, Ohio 45212.
