Jay G. Thomas, 70, of Harvey's Lake, formerly of Plymouth, Pennsylvania, passed away surrounded by his family on June 4, 2025. Born on November 30, 1954, he was the son of the late John and Mellina (Davis) Thomas. He was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School Class of 1972.

Jay went on to begin his career in nursing at Wilkes University, Marywood University for Health Care Administration, and later became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist through the University of Scranton. Jay's dedication to the medical field was to be commended. He was actively involved in the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetists and held many leadership roles within the association. Jay held many positions during his employment at Mercy Hospital, General Hospital, and Geisinger Hospital as a dialysis nurse, critical care nurse, health care administrator, a flight organ transplant nurse, and retiring as a CRNA.

Jay also volunteered his time at the Plymouth Fire Department, Boy Scouts of America, Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, and many more organizations.

Jay is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, of 49 years; brother Major General US Army (Retired) John Thomas; children Joshua Thomas (Jason Sierra) , Matthew Thomas, Gwenith Blaker (Shawn Blaker); grandchildren Abigail Blaker, Jesse Sierra, Jeslyn Sierra, Tristan Sierra, and Tianna Sierra. He is also survived by sister-in-law Rhyle Stull (Gary Stull) and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends are invited from 10 AM to 12 PM on Thursday, June 19th to Hugh B. Hughes & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.

Memorial service will be held following visitation hours at 12 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where Jay had lifesaving heart surgery when he was a child, or the Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary in honor of his favorite pig, Esther.
