Jay Bradley Welliver, 71, of Hilton Head Island, SC went on to be with his savior on Monday, January 5, 2026. Jay was born on July 1,1954 in Washington, DC; to the late Samuel Welliver, and the late Marjorie (Neale) Welliver. He grew up in Falls Church, VA, along with his late brother Samuel Neale Welliver Jr., graduating from Falls Church High School in 1972. He later pursued his Series 6 and 63 licensures to sell packaged investments.
After operating a successful business in his early adulthood, Jay spent most of his career in the construction business in Raleigh, NC during the 1990’s. Jay relocated to Hilton Head in 2002 to join his children and create Carolina Design Build where he resided for the past 24 years.
Jay was a Pilot, a skilled carpenter, a loving father and grandfather. He cherished his children, grandchildren and the Florida Gators. Jay was an avid Florida Gators football fan and proudly held season tickets since 1982. Jay spent many happy Saturdays with his sons cheering on the Gators at Florida Field.
Jay is survived, deeply loved, and greatly missed, by his four children and their spouses; Aaron C. Welliver, and his wife Erica McCandless Welliver, Nicholas R. Welliver, and his wife Megan Malear Welliver, Caroline Welliver McDougall, and her husband Zachary L. McDougall all of Bluffton, SC, and his son Ryan P. Welliver of Manhattan, NY. He also leaves wonderful memories to his two beloved grandchildren, Everett L. McDougall, and Ella R. McDougall. He is also survived by his sister Jenny Jonah of Maui, HI, and his former wife Marianne (Welliver) Reeve of Bluffton, SC.
Jay was affectionately known by his family and many of his children’s friends as “Pops”. He was very active in his family’s lives, with his happiest moments spent celebrating their weddings, birthdays, and holidays. He was known for giving the advice of;
“No matter what happens in life, Just be cool about it”

The family will be holding a private burial where Jay will be laid to rest at Six Oaks Cemetery in Hilton Head Island, SC
Friends and family are invited to join in a Celebration of his Life at Colleton Point Landing, in Rose Hill Plantation, on Saturday, January 31st from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
