Dr. Jayne Jensen, 79, passed away on January 21, 2026, in Smithfield, Utah. She was born on June 4, 1946, in Henderson, Nevada, to Maurice LeRoy Hooks and Delores Vivian Gosnell.

Jayne graduated from the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1970. Following graduation, she moved to Virginia, where she met and married Douglas V. Jensen. The couple later relocated to Issaquah, Washington, where Jayne made a lasting impact in the veterinary community and beyond.

In 1990, Jayne founded Tiger Mountain Veterinary Clinic, serving countless families and their beloved pets with compassion, dedication, and exceptional skill. Her leadership extended well beyond her practice. She served as President of the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association (WSVMA) in 2002 and held multiple leadership roles within the association beginning in the mid s. In 2011, she was honored as WSVMA’s Veterinarian of the Year, a testament to her decades of service and advocacy.

Jayne’s commitment to animal health stretched across the nation. Beginning in 1986, she volunteered with the Morris Animal Foundation, helping raise vital funds for groundbreaking animal health studies. She also spent 13 years volunteering with KIRO TV and Radio, offering weekly segments on pet wellness and becoming a trusted source of knowledge for pet owners throughout the region.

In 2009, Jayne was appointed to the AVMA Council on Education, where she contributed to advancing veterinary medical standards nationwide.

She was active in her community, contributing her time and talents to various youth and church groups. She was deeply devoted to her faith and cherished by all who knew her.

After retiring in 2020, Jayne moved to Smithfield, Utah, to be closer to family.

Jayne was loved greatly by her three children and will be remembered for her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering generosity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Dee Hooks, and her sister, Jean Hooks. She is survived by her brothers Maurice Hooks and Charlie Hooks; her son David Jensen; daughters Annie Jensen and April Collett; and three beloved grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, 1850 N 400 E, North Logan, Utah 84341, on Friday, January 30, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Smithfield Cemetery, with a reception afterward at the same church.

A Memorial service will be held at Blakely Hall  2520 NE Park Drive Issaquah, WA 98029 11:00am - 1:00pm with a reception afterwards in the same location. Refreshments and snacks will be served.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Morris Animal Foundation in Jayne’s honor.
