Jean Case Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home, Inc. - Hustonville on Jan. 15, 2026.
Jean Ann Whitis Case, 88, of Danville passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026. She was born in Mount Salem on February 26, 1937, to the late Theo Whitis and Mattie Baird Whitis.

She was previously a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 30 years where she played the piano and raised her family. For the past several years, she has been a faithful member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church where she had served on the Bereavement Committee, played the handbells, and sang in the choir.

Jean Ann was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Taking care of Tommy and being readily available to help him with anything at home or on the farm was of utmost importance to her. Caring for him and her family, before her own needs, is something for which she will always be remembered. Jean Ann carried herself with grace and dignity. Her love for family and the Lord was always evident.

For 27 years, Jean Ann was an elementary teacher. Following retirement, she continued substituting for 15 years. She loved and remembered her students by name and special details about each of them. She enjoyed playing Bridge, working crossword puzzles, reading, birdwatching, and playing games on her phone. In addition, she volunteered at the hospital and loved keeping up with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Tommy Case; 2 daughters: Cindy (Chuck) Stallard and Jan (Barry) Moser; 6 grandchildren: Will (Meagan) Stallard, Katie (David) Davis, Wade Stallard, Holly (Chris) Cook, Erin Miracle, and Maggie Moser; 8 great-grandchildren: Lane and Zay Stallard, Peyton, Parker, and Presley Davis, Atlas and Elizabeth Miracle, and Emma Cook.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Ralph Whitis, Luvian Cochran, Bobby Whitis, Tommy Whitis, and Alma Canada.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 4-7 PM at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Basil Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Hustonville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chuck, Will, and Wade Stallard, Barry Moser, David Davis, and Chris Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be Katie Davis, Holly Cook, Erin Miracle, Maggie Moser, and Meagan Stallard. Memorial contributions suggested to Heritage Hospice or Lexington Avenue Baptist Church.
