Jean Duplissis Obituary

Jean Mary Duplissis, age 95, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025. She was born in Muskegon, MI on February 26, 1930 to Clarence & Marguerite (Farmer) Peterman and graduated from Muskegon High School in 1948. She married Robert Duplissis on December 23, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 2019. Jean Mary was a longtime member at Community United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and also worked as the church secretary for several years. She later became the City Clerk for North Muskegon for 13 years before retiring. In her younger years she was a volunteer at Hackley Hospital and then later in her life volunteered in the gift shop at the LST Museum. She and her husband Robert were former members of the Muskegon Yacht club where they raced 210's and Jean Mary was part of the crew. They later owned a cruising sailboat and took many trips on Lake Michigan with family and friends. Jean Mary and Bob were always just across the street. As a kid, I´d go over to watch Bob build remote-controlled airplanes, work on his boats, or climb their small tree. They were always so kind to me, patiently answering all my curious questions with a smile.

Jean Mary and Bob made me feel welcome-both when I was a little kid and as I grew up across the street. Even after I moved away, I´d often see Jean Mary when I came back to visit-crossing paths on the street or at the mailbox. She would always ask how I was doing and what was new in my life.

I always looked forward to seeing them. They truly cared, and I deeply appreciated that. I loved knowing they were always just across the street.

They were both wonderful people, and they will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences for your loss.

Jean Mary lingers among my most pleasant memories after about 40 years. We were in the American Society of Women Accountants back then, and I got to know her as the consummate professional, an amazing hostess and a wonderful human being. How very lucky we all were to have her with us for 95 years! I praise Him that I knew her and pray His blessing and comfort for all who love her.
