Jean Engle Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 27, 2026.
Jean A. Engle, age 96, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026. She was born on March 21, 1929, at the beginning of the Great Depression, to the late Willard and Delta Stone. From an early age, Jean learned the values of resilience, devotion, and family-qualities she carried with her throughout her life.

Jean was united in marriage to Wilmont Engle, and together they shared many loving years. They were blessed with one daughter, Ginger Engle. Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband Wilmont and her cherished daughter Ginger, losses she bore with grace and quiet strength.

She is lovingly survived by her grandchildren, Bradley Bricker and Jodi (Ralph) Cavalier. Jean was a proud great-grandmother to Alexis (Luke) and Alaina (Derek), and a devoted great-great-grandmother to Everleigh and Eleni. She is also survived by her niece, Dawn Pettie. Jean was preceded in death by her sisters, Doreen Clark and Wanda Louks.

Jean was a longtime member of the Troy Gardening Club and found joy in tending to her interests and spending time shopping. However, nothing brought her more happiness than being with her family. She loved children deeply and was truly the matriarch of her family-selflessly caring for, guiding, and helping to raise those around her. Her home and heart were always open, and her love shaped generations.

A private gathering and entombment will take place at Christian Memorial Cemetery.

Jean will be remembered for her unwavering love, nurturing spirit, and the lasting legacy she leaves through her family.
