Jean HATCHER Obituary

Jean Hatcher was born at home on April 16th, 1938, in Hillyard, Washington, to Nadine and Herman Geile. She attended Rogers High School, where she met the love of her life, Don Hatcher. Jean graduated in the Spring of 1956 and married Don that August, beginning a loving marriage that would span nearly seven decades.

Together, they raised three children – April, Brett, and Brenda. Dons work took the family to Noxon, Montana, then to Kellogg, Idaho, before returning to Spokane, where they made their home for more than 50 years.

Jean lived life with enthusiasm and a love for fun. She was an avid bowler and golfer, having played every golf course in Spokane. She served as President of the Liberty Lake 18-Hole Group and was a charter member of MeadowWood Golf Course, where she built lifelong friendships.

Her passions extended beyond the greens – Jean loved horse racing and visited several tracks across the country. She also enjoyed casinos, scratch tickets, and traveling with Don and their friends. Together, they explored Hawaii, Mexico, Reno, and even Norway, where they visited long-distance relatives. For 23 years, Palm Springs became their cherished home away from home for two sunny weeks every year.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Nadine and Herman Geile, and her sister, Joan Barbour. She is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Don; their three children, April (Mike) Olson, Brenda (Jim) Hoagland, and Brett (Tami) Hatcher; grandchildren, Sean (Amy), Chris, Lisa (Nick), Andy, Jeremy (Beth), Tony, Gina, Jack, and Peyton (Jacob); and 11 great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

A service to celebrate Jean's life will be held of Friday, November 14th, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at Hennessey Valley Funeral Home, 1315 N. Pines, Spokane Valley, WA 99206.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Spokane, whose care and compassion meant so much to the family.
