With hearts full of faith and gratitude to God, we announce the passing of Glorious Jean Homer, age 84, who peacefully went home to the Lord on January 1, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri.

From an early age, Jean was grounded in faith and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Jean was born to Ella Dukes (Covington) and Shellie Covington in Dunmore, Kentucky, on September 15, 1941.

She was united in holy matrimony to James Wesley Homer Sr. on December 31, 1959, and together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life reflected kindness, strength, and an unwavering trust in God. She and James shared forty-five years of marriage before his passing.

Jean was a proud mother to three children: Deborah Lynn Homer (preceded in death), Bonnie Jean Homer, and Jimmy Wesley Homer (preceded in death). She was also preceded in death by her two siblings, Mary McNeily and Shelby Covington.

She leaves behind many cherished grandchildren: Heather (Jerod) Williams, Benjamin (Ali) Wilson, Abigail (Zach), Keith Homer (preceded in death), Gloria (Kenneth) Taylor, Michael (Megan) Wilson, and Jaira Warren (Terrill), as well as her beloved great-grandchildren: Kaeden Homer, Brooks Williams, Kenneth and Kenias Taylor, Henry and Barrett Wilson, Brennan Weaver, Jimmy and Mira-Jean Wilson, and T'Rya, Taylie, Zari, and LJ Betts.

Jean attended Hammon Tech in 1959 and later continued her education at John's Business School. She went on to dedicate many years to her career as a customer service representative for Harding Glass/Binswanger Glass, beginning on November 19, 1979, and retiring on July 29, 2021. She truly enjoyed her work and her coworkers, bringing smiles to many faces throughout her career.

A devoted Christian, Jean loved her faith deeply. She proudly served as President of the Missionettes at an Assembly of God church and spoke often and joyfully about Jesus. Her life was a testimony to her love for the Lord.

Jean had a lifelong passion for watching her Chicago Cubs, remaining a loyal and dedicated fan. After retirement, she found joy in watching Hallmark movies during her quiet moments at home.

Known for her warm spirit and radiant smile, Jean had a presence that could light up any room. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose bond with her was unbreakable. She also cherished late-night visits with her niece, Sue Chrisco, often talking until sunrise, and frequent conversations with her nieces Jennifer and Ashley Covington, sharing laughter and daily adventures.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Ella Dukes (Covington) and Shellie Covington; her siblings, Mary McNeily and Shelby Covington; her children, Deborah Homer and Jimmy Homer; her grandson, Keith Homer; several great-grandchildren; and her beloved fur baby, Maggie Homer.

A memorial service will be held on January 23, 2026, at Cherry Street Baptist Church at 12:00 p.m. with Dennis Jennings officiating. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink in honor of Jean.
