Jean F (Mulcahey) Nelson, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the HopeHealth Hospice Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was 76 years old.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the beloved daughter of the late William M. and Anna E. (McCusker) Mulcahey.
She was the devoted wife of the late Arthur W. Nelson, with whom she shared 29 wonderful years. Jean was also predeceased by her first husband, George E. Richards
She is survived by her loving children Renee Jean Devadiga (Richards) Nicole Marie Randle (Richards) Michael William Nelson, Katherine Anne Young (Nelson) Matthew Thomas Nelson and Terry Notarpippo (Nelson)
Jean was the proud and adoring grandmother of Danielle Feeley (Notarpippo) and Rylee Notarpippo, Olivia, Ava and Sophia Randle, Rasananda Devadiga, and Wyatt and Colton Young.
She also shared a deep and cherished bond with her many nieces and nephews, who lovingly called her their favorite "Auntie Jeannie."
We would be remiss not to mention her fiercely loyal Shih Tzu, Finnegan, who never left her side and brought her unwavering comfort, love, and companionship until the very end.
Jean was predeceased by all of her siblings William Mulcahey, Marie Ostiguy, Thomas Mulcahey, Carol Leveville, James Mulcahey, and Nancy Stepinski. We take comfort in knowing they are now joyfully reunited in heaven.
Jean was known and loved by many for her deep pride in her Irish heritage, her contagious laughter, her boundless capacity to love, and her adventurous spirit. She was the life of every party, always ready with a joke, a dance, or a warm embrace. She cherished her family above all else, especially her children and grandchildren, whom she often referred to as "her life."
She was fiercely protective of her loved ones and never hesitated to stand up for what she believed was right.
Jean will be missed deeply by all who knew her.
Her love, her light, and her unmistakable Irish smiling eyes will remain in our hearts forever
Her funeral will be held Friday, June 6th at 10:30am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Visitation Friday morning from 8:30-10:30am. Burial will be private.
